The Westmoreland County Obedience Training Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching owners to train their dogs for pleasure and/or for competition. WCOTC has offered reasonably priced dog obedience classes to the public since it was formed in 1983.
During that time, the Club has expanded to include instruction and events in the areas of Obedience, Agility, Conformation, Rally and more. The club also holds AKC licensed Obedience and Agility trials. WCOTC is also very active in our communities, giving demonstrations, and performing pet therapy work.
Obedience training may just be the best gift you can give yourself, your family, and your pet. It teaches your dog appropriate social behavior with both people and animals; helps correct annoying behaviors like jumping, digging, barking, and chewing; and keeps your dog entertained and happy. A win-win all around!
We, as members, tackle difficult health problems, debate structure of dogs, discuss upcoming events, share in the excellence of a new litter and comfort each other as a dog passes. Each member contributes a unique insight so that our breed can continue to move forward. The GSDCA provides a venue that allows breeders, owners, handlers and judges to contribute freely any information relevant to the breed. It is through a conglomeration of ideas that you, the new member, will formulate your plan for the betterment of the breed we so dearly love.
